grave digger.
every year we go to monster jam for the vluds birthday...get there really early and party in the parking lot and stuff...there is a lot of tradition in this event...if you are a newcomer youve got to pay your dues...we had a first year this year, derek...as a first year he is subject to a lot of ridicule and torment, dished out mostly by the vlud...a few of the many things he had to endure were, doing push ups for as long as it took us to sing the national anthem and getting his shirt taken off and replaced with his new grave digger jersey that he will have to wear from this year forward...he was a good first year...this years grave digger was the most epic one i have ever seen...grave digger ruled it hard in free style...lost his wheel and we all went ape shit...then he kept going for like 90 more seconds!...maximum destruction boosted sooo high off a jump...like 2 stories up came down and crashed and then blew up...this was my fifth year going to grave digger...if youve never been you really should go...but only with us...and dudes only...and only with the vluds permission...such good times.

vluds birthday continued at disneyland.
if you didnt know...disneyland now lets you in for free on your birthday...vlud took full advantage of this offer and lived it up at disneyland on his birthday...i called in sick so i could go celebrate with him, sarah and buzzy were also a part of the fun...went on some good rides...ate some churros...the vluds ate some turkey legs...then we had magoo paint a beautiful and majestic portrait of the vluds in watercolor...being there with the vluds brought back alot of memories of going there with our families when we were younger...those were the days.

escondido falls hike.
about a month or so ago sarah, lima and i went to santa monica and went on this hike up to a waterfall...it was such a nice day out...warm and sunny...the hike was actually way cooler than i thought it was going to be...the trail wasnt maintained very well, which made it more fun to hike on...there were three viewing points to the falls...each point was harder to get to than the last...it got kinda crazy getting lima to scale walls, but was super fun...the last view point was pretty rad...it was like a little paradise in the woods...some sunlight shown through the trees...the falls were actually throwing off a good amount of water into a little swimming hole...there was a rope swing on a tree that looked like it could be fun if the swimming hole had a little more water in it...and since it was harder to get to other people didnt make it all the way, so we were by ourselves for a good amount of time...we just hung out for a bit and lima went for a swim...we went the wrong way down and sarah almost started scaling down this vertical rock wall and wanted lima to follow...it didnt take long until we decided that was not going to happen...we then found the right way down...the right way was still a little bit sketchy...i was heading for a pretty hard fall but caught a tree at the last second...such a good day...it was a pretty cool hike if you are looking for something fairly close by

sarah and i went to la to see my name is bruce at this little theater...it was pretty classic...totally need to be a fan to get the full effect though...would have been way cooler if raimi directed it...but yeah it was still amazing...he was supposed to come out and talk after the showing but turned out he didnt get there until after the next showing...i wasnt all too bummed cause i got to hear him talk after a showing of bubba ho-tep...im sure it was pretty much the same stuff going on...anyways you should see it...i think it comes out on dvd feb 16th or something.

san clemente.
every couple of weekends me and sarah head down to san clemente for a day or two...just hang out with the girards...play games...go on hikes...talk naruto...decorated the christmas tree...eat super good food...seriously sarahs mom is like all time mom...i try and keep up with the girard boys but usually fail haha...their minds are just unmatchable...such a good and loving family though...and if things go the way im planning i will be a part of it one day...well im already a part of it...but i mean...legally.

disneyland.
my gift to sarah for christmas [along with an amazing pillow case with me on it] was a disneyland pass...we bought them on the 23rd so we could go with some of her family who was here from out of town...trevor knew this secret password so we got to ride in walt disneys car on the back of the train...it was pretty cool...i hadent been to disney land in forever...last time i went was before there was a california adventure...so i had been missing out on a lot...we got free tortillas and sourdough bread...went on tower of terror...that ride is so rad...it has a story line and theatrics and also fear and a sense of nostalgia...so cool...went on that classic roller coaster in california adventure...that roller coaster is really cool...i love classic roller coasters...oh and that new shooting game...midway mania is soooo good...its a 3D shooting game!...so fun...anyways we went on a few other things and had some bonding time.
sarah and i went back to disneyland by ourselves on jan 4th beaucase that is the first day without a black out date since we got them...it was insanely crowded because it was the last day of the christmas stuff...we didnt do much...went on the teacups and a few story books rides...thats it...but we just wanted to go by ourselves to spend some time with each other and use our christmas gift together...it was actually a really fun time...and being with her made even the masses of smelly, grumpy people enjoyable.
also a dinseyland photo project is in the works.

christmas.
the holidays bring about a lot of family traditions...
first...my family and the vluds family went and saw four christmases...it was super funny...vince vaughn kills me...it got a little too serious for about 10 minutes...but that was the only down side.
second...my family, sarah included, and the vluds family went out to dinner at naples rib co...rad right? being veg at a rib joint kinda sucks...but being with the family just having a good time rules...after that we met up with the kennedys, jeff not included, and the merrill's walked along naples and looked at christmas lights...we saw a lot of gnomes, you gnome?...it was pretty cold...but thats where my girlfriend comes in and keeps me nice and warm...after the walk we headed back to my house for hot chocolate and cookies...i didnt partake...but the fun did continue until bedtime.
third...christmas eve...everybody comes over to my house...sarah got to spend christmas eve with us too which was really nice...we just hung out and played catch phrase...my mom made tortilla soup for dinner, which was super good...we did these weird little popper things that you pull both sides and they pop and toys come out...after dinner we sat down for our gift exchange...which entails minimal gift opening and maximum noise making...after that the evening just kind of winded down until the end...before sarah left she gave my her gift to me...it was a book documenting our lives and relationship from when we met almost 8 years ago up and through the recent amazing changes our relationship has gone through...it is un finished so we will add to it through our life...this is the most amazing gift i have ever recieved...i couldnt help but smile and laugh reading it...after that sarah had to say goodbye and leave for san clemente...that was pretty sad cause id like to spend the holidays (well everyday) with her...but you have to be with family for the holidays...it really important.
fourth...christmas day...woke up at 5:30am and ran with my dad...got home...made some hot chocolate and sat by the fire...exchanged gifts...got lots of cool stuff...new digital camera...running shoes...twin peaks gold collection...and a few other things...after that we sat down for breakfast...my mom made multigrain pancakes with walnuts, which are probably one of my favorite things, but i didnt have any because i had a breakfast burrito from nicks...so good...after that we just hung out till we headed over to the vluds house for more hanging out...at the vluds we just sat around...watched deck the halls...talked with the family...pretty mellow.
gifts kept coming...sarahs parents also got me an amazing patagonia rain shell jacket for running and riding...way too nice...but much appreciated.

spent it at sarahs apartment with a lot of close friends...played some games...talked...made some noise...banged on some pots...kissed my girlfriend...went to alex's bar for a little bit...said goodbye to all the friends...went back to sarahs...spent the night there and woke up in 2009.
2008 was a good year for the most part [minus colin moving away]...made a lot of new friends...started going to a new church...burrito project...and found the love of my life in my best friend.

took place in san clemente right on the bluff...pretty amazing...super fun...goodtimes with all kinds of friends...congrats to the palmers.

sarah and i went to sunken city...something that we had been trying to do for over a year...its crazy to me how things like this happen, how places just cease to exist...it was such a nice day...took a few photos down by the tide pools.

for my moms birthday we all went down to carlsbad and camped for a few nights...the weather was great...actually got too hot one of the days...the surf wasent very good but it was fun just to be out in the water...played lots of games...ate good food...sat around the campfire...you know goodtimes as usual.

thanksgiving.
went over to the vluds house as usual...there was all kinds of good food...i just had a microwaved vegetable pot pie...its good to get the whole family together...ate...cracked jokes...complained about section 8...got colin a mail order bride...watched home alone and christmas with the cranks...on the way home my mom likes to go drive by the canals and look at the christmas trees out in the water, so we did that...a pretty standard jenkins thanksgiving.

to start off the halloween celebration we headed down to beautiful san clemente for the girards annual pumpkin carving party...it was really fun...carved pumpkins...hung out...drank cider...good times
throughout the week i had been reading the walking dead...watching every simpsons treehouse of horror episode there is...and other halloween episodes
last we had a little mini pumpkin carving party at the jenkins household
on the actual day of halloween i didnt do anything...just sat home and watched are you afraid of the dark?...3rd halloween in a row of not dressing up or doing anything...also didnt have one piece of candy this halloween...but dont get me wrong i still throughly enjoyed the holiday

what ive been up to:
2 weekends ago sarah and i rode the metro to hollywood in hopes to see wicked...if you show up to the theater two and a half hours early you can put your name in a drawing for a chance to win seats for $25...we got there just in time to put our names in...we had to run from the metro and across hollywood blvd...but we got our names in...there were about 75 names in the drawing and they drew 15 winners...it got down the the last chance and sarah and i were still waiting to hear our names...but our hopes were high...and sure enough the guy shouts "chris jenkins!"...so yeah that ruled and we got super cheap seats...we had a while before the show so we went and ate at this pretty good vegan place...walked around for a bit...laughed pretty hard about my grabbing my nipples and making a munching sound in front of this little lady...headed back and took our seats...wicked was pretty awesome...the sets were super cool and im a sucker for origin stories...really good times.
last weekend was the we love long beach picnic...sarah and i were in charge of volleyball...we had a good time...met these two little girls that were super sassy...and met a dude named leonard...he was kinda nuts and im pretty sure he lied to me alot...heather and i won the water balloon toss and got free golden spoon certificates...got to see a lot of people i never get to see...fun in the park with tons of good people...doesnt get much better than that.

summer made good.

camping.
first trip - not the same...we are getting older...its hard for everyone to get away from work at the same time to have the trip be the same as when we were young...but it was fun nonetheless...good times with the family...great weather...friends made it down for a day or two here and there...bodysurfing...smash ball...bocce ball...burritos...bbq.
second trip - a long weekend trip...just mom and dad...sarah came down with me...beach time...reading...lots of burritos...bocce ball...smash ball...left-handed smash ball...bodysurfing...camp fires...card games...sarahs parents came down for dinner and sat around the campfire...a great weekend.

hot air balloon adventure.
uncle steves birthday...spent the night in fallbrook...woke up at 4:00am...went up in the hot air balloon...so high... 2500 feet and all you are in is a little basket...dropping things out of it was fun...rocking it wasnt...but it was really amazing...you could see so far...and it was so quiet and calm...after the balloon ride we went back to a house in fallbrook and just hung out and swam and watched the olympics...some good family time.

roadtrip : big flat + portland.
5 days...sarah, me, lima and a prius...ok so first let me say that the prius is amazing...500 miles on a 10 gallon tank...i want one...ok so now onto the trip...first day was a 10 hour drive up to big flat...big flat is a small mountain town with a population of about 70 people...we got there kind of late and just had dinner and slept under the stars...the stars there were amazing...you could see the milky way...next day we went to little paradise and big paradise...they are swimming holes up a river...we [including lima] just hung out there all day...then went back and slept under the stars again...in the mornings i got to run along the river which was amazing...we left big flat and headed for bend, oregon...that was about an 8 hour drive...got there and met up with some people at the beck and cold war kids show...after the show we started our drive to portland at about 11:00pm...it was a 3 hour drive on dark back roads...pouring rain...i still dont know how i stayed awake and on the road...but we made it...in portand we stayed with mallory and ben...their house was amazing and in a really cool area...i ran in the mornings in portland and it was so nice there...we went on a hike to some waterfalls with lima...went out to dinner downtown...some really good food...met some cool dudes...played some games...said our goodbyes...the next day we started our drive home...drove for about 10 hours to a little past sacramento...searched for something to eat...got a room at the worst motel...snuck lima in...then woke in the morning for the last leg.
such an amazing trip...the time spent on the road was just as amazing as the time spent at the destinations...best time.

i didnt wanna grow up this fast...
we were going on our third day in costa rica...having a blast...i check my email at the local cafe...my mom says call ASAP...i call...she is crying...i know something is wrong...she says there has been a terrible accident...i know somebody has died...she did not tell me who at first...it felt like all my blood was running out of my finger tips and toes...i was flashing around in my head...dad...brother...then she says brandon was killed...i now felt like i got hit by a train and no longer felt as if i was there...
brandon was one of my best friends in the world...we were...for the most part...inseperable...i loved him...we were gonna be the old guys that sat at simones donuts...he was gonna be the first one to get married...we were gonna be the best of friends forever...
my mom says he would want us to stay in costa rica and enjoy ourselves...she was most definatly right...but brandon was always there for me...so i wanted, for once in my life, to be there for him
brandon pasted away this tuesday...he will be deeply missed

i did more this weekend than i usually do in a whole month.
saturday...woke up and ran...went to the renaissance faire with vlud, dave and mike...strangest thing ever...so there were like these scenes all over the place and the people were acting we think...but like it was all day long and they stayed in character when people werent even around...we know because we snuck up on them and tried to catch them...it was super hot and dirty...got hassled by a toothless man hanging out of a wooden castle...got called gay at least 5 times by seperate people "i guess that is why you only walk with men?"...and dave with the qoute of the day "from the button maker"...anyways...we were there for like 7 hours...got home and was dead tired...found out kyle was having a birthday party...so i rode over there and stayed for a little bit to say happy birthday and stuff.
sunday...woke up and ran...went to circuit city and stood in line for 3 hours to get a wii...got it...met a cool 10 year old named joshua who was way amped on getting his wii...then a little later went to san clemente for sarahs birthday beach party bbq...super fun...if you dont know already i am allergic to cold and did not plan on going in the ocean cause it is still too cold for me...well i was dying on the beach cause it was super hot and decided to go in anyway...super glad i did...it made me realize how much i miss the ocean...i had so many good times in and around the ocean and really need to start surfing again...so yeah...we were at the beach pretty much all day...after that we walked back to sarahs house and had a little bbq...i had a good time...it was good seeing everybody...after sarahs party i drove home then went to the outbreak show at chain by myself...i made it just in time to see their whole set...such a good show.

its good having my best friend back in town.
we will be sharing a room in the hotel pictured above for 9 days...free of charge...too bad we will be working 12+ hours a day and will hardly have time to take advantage...but we will find a way to have a good time.

i gained 20 pounds this winter...time to lose it cause its way too hot for that extra layer.
my life has been pretty boring lately...lots of staying home and reading and watching tv...a few shows and gatherings here and there...lots of running and riding and working...you know...the usual.
as soon as i get back from san diego i am officially declaring it summer...which will start the summer fun...and the coming of the summer of champions reunion tour...bbqs...pool partys...bike rides...park days

i spent the past five days on north in cambria and big sur...its really rad up there.
got up every morning right before sunrise and went trail running through the forest...passing deer and other wildlife along the way.
spent most of the day time hiking and stuff.
fell out of a tree and bruised two of my ribs.
spent some quality time with the family.
i wouldnt mind living up there...nothing is crowded...the forest backs up all the way to the ocean...the air is much cleaner...people are much friendlier.
a neat place to say the least.

this year i have:
ran = 2026 miles
rode = 5560 miles
totaling = 7586 miles
this would get me across the united states and back with 786 miles left over.

party week was no party.
i started working full time...which actually isnt that bad...lots of sitting around and movie watching and stuff...and a bonus is im gonna be making twice as much money as i used to...so i might get out of debt soon...ps i have a pet tarantula here.
party week was actually equal to a regular week...nothing great happened.
my dog is dying and wont eat anything...so my job was to get her to eat whatever i could...one night i made her nachos...another night i put tortilla chips hawaiian bread with peanut butter...and some cheerios in her bowl and topped it all off with maple syrup...the next night i did that same combonation except replaced the maple syrup with chocolate syrup...another night i grilled her up 3 hamburgers...and last night i made her some mac n cheese...i think she enjoyed the nachos and the hamburgers the best...im sad she is not going to be with us much longer.
i did do a few fun things during party week though...i saw The Darjeeling Limited...Into the Wild...and 30 Days of Night...all of which ruled...i ate a TON of golden spoon...which i am addicted to...i began to watch the first season of Heroes...im now hooked on it...did the usual running and bike rides...started preparing to print a new shirt design...and just hung out alot.
i guess the surf was really good yesterday...im gonna start going again.
im gonna leave my house more often.
im gonna end this entry now.

random update.

last past few days maylene has been in town.
went to the show at soma on wednesday...hung out with the dudes...grilled out with as i lay dying...found out they all work at the pizza place that we order from when we are beach camping...talked to the singer of poison the well haha...i was soooo into them like 6 years ago...not so much now...but they played "nerdy" and that ruled...RH is maylenes tour manager again...im really excited about that cause i missed that dude a lot and now ill get to see him more often.
went to the show at the wiltern last night...crazy...hung out with robbie out in front for the longest time...this random girl came up and started touching my cousins beard...my cousin was super into her hah...but yeah robbie was telling us about this stuff thats like a legal drug or something and you smoke it?...but yeah he said its nuts and i think some vluds are going try it on party week [which is next week...actually it is two weeks long]...then this crazy asian lady came up and started talkign to us and making hand movments...we couldnt understand her so robbie just started making up what he thought she was saying...some of the crap was the funniest stuff i had ever heard...went in and watched maylenes set...that girl [tess]...went in with us...RH ended up getting her to lick hummus off of his stomach...[keith buckley got it on video so watch for it on youtube]...well after maylenes set we were hanging out and ashlee simpson shows up with that dude from fall out boy that shows his weiner...that was weird...i guess they know ETID...ETID is pretty good live...and keith buckley is like the funniest dude ever...he has this tattoo on his leg of maury povich and in a banner around his head it says "keith, you are NOT the father" baha...anyways this is long and pointess...but it was a good time...saw lots of dudes i miss a lot...met some new dudes...had some fun

friday: went to the getty...little did i know there was a blooming umbrella surprise waiting...i had no idea...even after all the faces were showing i still had no idea what was going on...this was so special...i had a great time.
saturday: the vluds threw me a bbq and pool party...we grilled out...went swimming...ate food...told stories...got sunburnt...a good time.
sunday: the family bbq birthday party...the family got food from naples rib company...i bbqed my garden burger...played ping pong...watched jurrasic park one and two...got golden spoon instead of birthday cake.
i had an amazing birthday...im thankful for all of you.

date two of the summer of champions tour : smashville.
----
nashville is awesome.
its a fairly good sized city...but not fast paced on anything.
there are a lot of really cool old buildings from around the 1800s.
a lot of green too...sad i didnt get to see more of that.
it is beautiful.
----
so we arrived in nashville having no idea what we were going to do for places to stay or how to get around or anything.
we called rado...he had his friend perry come and pick us up and take us to rados appartment.
rado lives in the projects...kinda scary but also really fun.
the vluds eneded up getting a hotel room so we didnt have to sleep in the projects.
the hotel was close to the venue and pretty much everything.
we did a ton of walking over the weekend.
hung out with the dudes a lot...got to see beiser for the first time in like a year and a half...really good to see that dude...the glass oceans sound is really cool...keller kinda broke down on stage one night...i feel so bad for him.
i wish the dudes didnt live so far away.

nashville was a good time.
id like to move somewhere like that for a year or two.

date one of the summer of champions tour : sea legs.
----
the cruise was a pretty good time.
all the vluds shared a room the size of a bathroom.
it was a bit cold so there wasnt much hanging out on the deck...but there was other stuff to do.
i played a lot of slot machines...the first one i played i didnt even put a coin in and ended up winning like thirty dollars...then i lost it all and more...then i won like 60 dollars...then i lost it all...but it was fun...JACKPOT PARTY!
there were some comedians that were pretty funny...this one guy played that one vanessa carlton song but sung it with the voice of carl from the movie sling blade...that ruled.
everyone thought we were in a band for some reason...so we just started going along with it.
mexico was pretty boring...but i made friends with a dude with no teeth and got him to ask my grandma if she wanted some weed.
after a while the boat got pretty boring...there were a lot of naps that were had.
it was definatly a good time.
tomorrow i leave for nashville, TN.

went swimming in my pool for the first time this year today.
this summer there will be lots of grilling out and pool parties.
----
i guess i still have a job.
i can stay with ASAPS as long as a want.
im glad because i really like not working nights and weekends...and also am very short on money.
----
next weekend im going on a cruise to mexico with my family.
3 days after we get back i leave for nashville, TN.
----

my life is at home.

nyc turned out to be a pretty good time.
minus the 18 hour work days...i worked over 90 hours in 7 days.
minus the distance...that was tougher than any 18 hour work day.
----
went and saw maylene play at this venue at union square...it was good to see some people i know.
RH stayed with me for a few nights...we didnt get to hang out much cause i was always working...but we had a few good times.
colin and i rode around...alot.
we got to run stuff from the hotel to the convention center a few times.
went on a few long rides...usually during rush hour.
i love long beach...but it is nowhere near as fun as riding in nyc.
there are so many rad places to ride to.
so much you have to look out for when you are riding.
everyone was worried about safety...honestly i felt much more safe riding there than i do riding at home...drivers there are much more aware.
i didnt get to see much since i was always so busy...but we rode to brooklyn...all through the east village...and to ground zero.
i ended up having a pretty good time all in all

in one week i leave for NYC.
i hate flying.
i dont like being away.
the week in NYC will be the last week of work and the last hours of my internship.
as of april 27th i will be unemployed.
i will officially be graduated from college.
what is next?

i dont think i could ever be in a touring band.
the past 4 days i have basically been on tour with maylene and the sons of disaster.
im am exhausted...and their tour is 8 weeks long...i dont know how they do it.
i dont know how they stay away from thier loved ones for that long.
it just seems like it would be very hard.
----
the rest of my weekend:
the show at SOMA was super fun...minus the drive.
we just grilled out with the dudes and hung out.
we got to stand on stage for thier set...dallas kept coming over and talking to us while they were playing.
after thier set they had to leave right away to go shoot for thier video.
we met up with them at the set on saturday at about 5:00 pm...i did not return home until 9:00 am sunday [no sleep was had].
good times though...it was basically a camp out.
it was being filmed at this place where they film csi miami and stuff...its like a swamp...the dude that owns it looks like kurt russell circa escape from new york...there was also a kid running around with a mullet and a bb gun shoot at us.
we had a huge camp fire going and grilled out.
helped out a little bit on the video.
watched the sun come up as dallas did the vocal part for the video.
said our goodbyes...pretty sad.
ill see them again in NYC though.
ps...the video is gonna be pretty bad ass.

so maylene has been in town for the past few days.
wednesday night was the show at the glasshouse...pretty fun...they had like a farmers market going on and i got some roasted corn.
anyone heard of a texas belt buckle?
last night was the show at the key club...super fun...they have a lot more energy on stage now.
after their set we went and got some pizza.
then this dude from virgin records who signed mastodon and wants to buy maylenes contract from ferret got us into the powerman 5000 [pictured above] (baahahaha) show at the wiskey...so we danced to some mall metal.
dallas talked to us about going to the dirty south tour...so im pretty sure im flying out to nashville in may for a few days.
after the power man 5000 show we just went back to the venue and hung out for a bit...learned their masturbation habits and stuff.
today we are going to the soma show and grilling out.
good times.

i miss the ocean.
i am going beach camping next thursday through sunday.
it should be a good time.
most of the best times of my life have taken place at south carlsbad state beach.

so i guess im going to NYC april 17th through the 25th.
i wasnt to into the idea at first.
i dont like leaving some things behind.
but i came to find out that me and colin are going to sneak our bikes on to the truck that is taking all the gear.
and also maylene is going to be there when i am...so RH is gonna fly out and we are gonna meet up with them i guess.
could turn out to be pretty cool...minus all the working...and the missing.

in monsters outside! news:
bradley hathaway is in sweden with blindside and was wearing a shirt and i guess they want to wear it now.
also a dude for that band say anything (HA!) messaged me and said he wants to wear some stuff on their co-headlining tour with saves the day.
others who might be seen wearing the stuff: underoath...jonezetta...dozer...ryanrado...maylene...the passing lane...norma jean...the chariot...the glass ocean...the flood memoirs...i dont know...probably more...
i think i am going to put out some designs that my friends at pixel-nation did...and maybe a design of my own soon

i love my brothers from the south.
last night was fun.
i guess im supposed to design stuff for jonezetta, TWLOHA, and some other band?
alex warren is rad... you should really go see jonezetta and visit their merch table... a guaranteed good time.
today should be interesting... ryan rado is coming to town.
